Adam Adams Jewelry Renders

Jewelry, rendered to the facet.

3D product visualization · New York City

I light, render and composite fine jewelry for e-commerce and campaigns. My diamonds hold their fire and my metals read true, because the materials behind them are calibrated to real gemstone optics.

Turntables

Full 360° rotations built for product pages. Every angle has to hold up, so the lighting and materials can't cheat for one hero view. Select a piece to watch it larger.

Three-stone vine ring

The same CAD rendered in all three gold alloys on two backdrops. Swapping the metal changes the color of every reflection the stones pick up, so each version is lit and finished on its own.

Forest creek

The tennis bracelet taken out of the studio and placed on a moss-covered stone in a forest creek, surrounded by ferns, fallen logs and river rock. The set is built to frame one piece, with the light falling on the bracelet and the rest of the scene left in shadow.

The same shot in three stages. Step through them to see the scene geometry, the lighting on its own in clay, and the finished render with materials applied.

From CAD to final frame

The client's CAD team supplies the models. I take it from there: materials, lighting, rendering and the final polish in After Effects that makes every stone catch the light.

01

CAD intake

Client supplied

Production CAD is checked for clean normals and stone placement, then set up in a scene with a fixed camera and scale so every product is up to standard.

02

Materials

My work

Metals and stones come from my own Octane library: yellow, white and rose gold, diamond, colored stones and pearl, each tuned to the real material's refractive index and dispersion.

03

Lighting and render

My work

Studio lighting built in Cinema 4D and Octane, using light cards and carefully placed reflections to give the metal clean highlights and make every stone flash as it moves.

04

Compositing

My work

Final pass in After Effects to bring out fire in the diamonds, polish on the metal and a consistent look across a whole collection.

Material library

Calibrated, not guessed

A stone only looks right when light bends through it the way it does in the real gem. These are the optical values my gemstone materials are built on.

MaterialRefractive indexDispersion
Diamond2.4170.044
Ruby1.762–1.7700.018
Sapphire1.762–1.7700.018
Aquamarine1.577–1.5830.014
Pearl≈1.53–1.69n/a

Gold alloys (yellow, white, rose) are matched to measured reflectance color rather than a single index.

About

I'm Adam Adams, a 3D artist who specializes in making fine jewelry look as good on screen as it does in hand.

At a leading online fine jewelry retailer, I rendered the company's ring CAD in Cinema 4D and Octane and finished it in After Effects, turning production models into the product imagery customers shop from. Along the way I built the reusable metal and gemstone material libraries the work depended on.

I'm now taking on freelance and full-time work in product visualization, especially jewelry and luxury goods, and expanding into real-time environments in Unreal Engine 5.
